Can You Use This Scooter Outside?

Well, it depends on where you actually live. In the U.K. you cannot ride your hands-free hover board on the road or sidewalks, so feel free to move around in your house. They are also prohibited in New York, depending on how quick you can move. If it may go much faster than 15 miles per hour (and not many hover boards can), you should leave it at home. And in California, at the start of the year a new law will make it just OK to move around in pathways and bike lanes (but helmets are still required!). However, some individual schools, malls and other spaces are taking steps to ban hands free scooters from their premises and hallways, so keep in mind that the rules cannot be always on your side.

OK, So I Can Use It Outside, But Which One is the Best for riding Outdoors?

If you are going to use your hover board on the pavement or on concrete, then most of the greatest brands will work just fine. But if you are looking for a model to take on much rougher locations, the Hovertrax Solowheel Extreme will be a good variant. Generally, the original Hovertrax hover board is a perfect choice for all-around ride ability. Here is one thing to think about: such scooters are electric, so using them in the rain weather is not the greatest idea. A little water somewhere on the road will not be a reason for an explosion, but that is as much as you have to risk.

Are These Hover Boards Goof for Kids?

How dexterous is your kid? If you are going to buy a hands free scooter for a child, you should first check out a model which contains a handle. It is substantially a Segway for small people, but it is surely much safer. If you do not like this option, then choose a device which has a lower maximum speed; 5 miles per hour should be enough. Hover boards with bigger tires are also a bit easier to maneuver.

Stop, How Are These Scooters Even Called?

Well, nobody actually knows! According to the facts, what you are going to acquire is not a hover board – they do really exist, just in the prototype form, so you are not going to buy one of them this holiday season of shopping. Here are some of the names which people have been giving them are: hands-free Segway, glideboard, “rideable” or electric scooter. If you do want to speak the language of these people, just stick to the word hover board (although maybe you should also use air quotes with the word “hover” while that is not really what is happening).
